The weekly report is late, just like my encounter with COVID-19.
- I experienced my first fever in my life on Saturday, the day I was supposed to attend a concert. It started with lower back pain and progressed to overall body aches and chills. The speed at which the symptoms worsened exceeded my imagination, as did the level of pain. For the past two days, I have had a fever of 39 degrees Celsius and body aches, with no other sensations. I have been sweating under the covers, but the good news is that my body temperature has gone down. Despite feeling sticky all over, I can't afford to worry about that. I am grateful to my friend for making me ginger soup with brown sugar, which helped me sweat it out successfully.
- On Saturday, I was supposed to attend the concert with friends who came from Inner Mongolia and Hebei. However, our plans were disrupted by the sudden onset of COVID-19. I started vomiting during lunch and couldn't eat anything except for the oily taste. In the end, I asked the waiter to bring me raw eggs and drank them with hot water. After finishing the meal, we went to the venue. I felt extremely uncomfortable and hired a seven-seater SUV to get there. Something magical happened; as we approached the venue, I suddenly regained some consciousness, as if experiencing a moment of clarity before death. In a little over an hour, I was able to watch the first half of the concert. During the second half, I couldn't sit still. My whole body was in pain, feeling cold and dizzy. My mind was filled with questions about why I had to collapse on this particular day.
- On Thursday, I had a business trip to Shijiazhuang. I haven't specifically visited this city before; the only time I passed through was during a transfer. My impression of Shijiazhuang was that it was hazy and filled with smog. I can't remember when I last visited, but this time, I was pleasantly surprised by Shijiazhuang. The building where I met the client was very high-tech, with elevators that required appointments. In comparison, office buildings in Beijing seemed cramped. Moreover, the business building and shopping mall were conveniently located together. Now, whenever I leave Beijing, I feel comfortable in any city.
Summary:
COVID-19, please go away soon. I really can't bear it anymore.
